Mysore Style is the most suitable way to begin or to advance in your practice (you do not need to know the series or any other knowledge to get started). Everyone practices at their own pace, following their breathing, and receives personalized support from the teacher, to adapt the postures accordingly, develop autonomy in their practice and dissect certain postures.
Individual attention
In Mysore Style classes, the teacher interacts with each student individually, providing guidance, adjustments, and personalized support, ensuring that students receive the attention they need to develop their practices and progress properly.
Quiet atmosphere
Mysore classes are generally held in silence, allowing students to focus inward and cultivate a meditative state of mind.
Community support
Mysore's courses create an inclusive, supportive community where students can learn and inspire each other.
From the outside, Ashtanga yoga may seem like nothing more than flexibility and jump-backs, but this is very superficial. Internally, it's like a moving meditation, using the breath, body, and drishti, bringing our attention from the outside in. We practice Mysore in a very quiet environment, free from stimulation, noise, and self-reflection. This creates a very unique group energy that is difficult to replicate in other yoga class formats.

YOGA MAT
You may use a studio mat.
We recommend bringing your own mat. If you wish, you can leave it on-site in a designated area. Simply provide a distinctive sign to avoid confusion, and include a piece of paper with your name, phone number, and a drop-off date in your mat bag.
SHOWERS
The studio has two showers.
Towels are available on site for €1 or €2.
MOONS
There will be no classes on full moon and new moon days.
Please refer to the list of Moon Days below.
Why did you choose to create a Mysore program with two teachers?
Cyril Lagel & Tran Bui

Our complementarity at the service of practice and students.
We have been practicing and working together on yoga classes and retreats for several years now. We share a common passion, but above all, a common vision and the desire to share joyful and precise teaching.
Our paths of practice have been very different: Cyril is strong, powerful, and astute, and Tran is more flexible, agile, and calm. Our approach to adjustments is also different: one offers hands-on adjustments that are present and confident, while the other brings attention to detail and precision.
Over time, our complementarity has helped us grow as practitioners and teachers. It was therefore only natural that we wanted to share our teachings. The vision of a man and the vision of a woman, both passionate and caring, allow us to address the specific issues of each individual.
Finally, the mutual support that a shared schedule will provide will allow us to maintain the energy and physical and mental availability necessary to always support the students with the joy and good humor that is dear to us.

What is Mysore Ashtanga

MYSORE STYLE ASHTANGA IN PARIS
Who is it for?
Absolutely everyone! All students are welcome in the Mysore class. At the heart of this method, all experience levels can follow the teachings of the practice, regardless of our limitations. In Mysore, it is possible to better meet the needs of those who require special attention or guidance by benefiting from this personalized and safe learning method.
What is a Mysore Style class?
Mysore Style is the authentic and traditional way of practicing Ashtanga yoga taught by its founder, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, at the prestigious KPJAYI-SYC school. In these classes, each student practices at their own pace, following their own breath, and receives personalized guidance from the teacher.
Mysore Style allows you to do everything a traditional guided class normally doesn't: adapt postures to suit the student, go at your own pace, develop autonomy in your practice, and analyze certain postures based on your practice with the teacher. Personalized guidance from a teacher is the safest and most sustainable way to practice Ashtanga yoga. It allows you to fully understand the sequence of postures, but above all, to practice according to your own specific needs and current state.
What are the benefits of Mysore Style classes?
Personalized guidance from a teacher is the safest and most sustainable way to practice Ashtanga yoga. It allows you to fully understand the sequence of postures, but above all, to practice according to your own specific needs and current state. Every body is different, and therefore every practice is unique. While guided classes are primarily useful for teaching the sequence of postures, Mysore classes allow you to focus on your own sensations and breathing, and to develop depth and autonomy in your practice while benefiting from the energy of the group. Finally, Mysore allows you to explore a deeper, more spiritual dimension of yoga, to better understand yourself, and to open your body more accurately. The practice then becomes a true meditation in movement.
Pattabhi Jois only taught this class in Mysore (hence its name), at his shala. This type of class is part of the tradition of yoga teaching, which emphasizes the personal teacher/student relationship. Ashtanga Yoga is traditionally taught in the "Mysore" style and is the most impactful approach to learning and understanding the practice. The name Mysore is derived from the present-day city in southern India, where Sri K. Pattabhi Jois lived, studied, taught, and raised his family for most of his life.
Mysore is also considered a supervised self-practice where asanas are introduced and taught one at a time, allowing the student to easily memorize the sequence with confidence and comfort, strengthening their skills to move through the practice in a way that instills a sense of empowerment, firmness, and calm. In class, students progress at their own pace with the guidance of their teacher. The practice of Ashtanga yoga is offered to each student individually, entirely dependent on their location on the day they enter a class. Guidance and support are always available when needed; the goal is to meet the needs of each student as best as possible. The recommendation for students taking their first steps in Mysore yoga is that they commit to at least one month, at least twice a week, to accelerate and deepen the learning process.
What are the special features of this class?
• The class is not verbally guided by the teacher.
• Each student practices the predefined Ashtanga yoga posture sequence at their own pace under the teacher's supervision. Practice sheets are available to memorize the sequence if needed.
• The teacher provides verbal guidance to each student in an individual and personalized manner, making physical adjustments with the student's consent.
Introduction to Mysore Style Ashtanga Yoga?
In this class, you will learn everything you need to know to begin practicing Mysore Style Ashtanga Yoga. It runs alongside your regular program with the same teacher, who will give you special attention so you can begin safely.
Shala Etiquette.
• The Shala (studio) is a place of learning; wear something simple and comfortable to practice.
• Avoid symbols such as ॐ on your clothing or mat.
• Avoid overly strong perfumes, moisturizer, and other cosmetic products during practice, as these can distract other students or make your skin slippery.
• For new students, keep your Shala practitioner card hidden under the front of your mat, with your first name visible, during practice (it will be given to you upon registration).
• Turn off your phone when entering the Shala.
• Avoid making loud noises or disturbing other students. Please lay out your mat quietly.
• It is recommended that you bring your own mat and microfiber mat to practice.
• If you are injured and do not need assistance on a specific day, or if you are pregnant, use the appropriate tag that indicates this and place it in front of your mat (you can find the tags on the small table).
